Hall finished 9th in
his big Maserati.
His
white Birdcage in the background had mechanical problems and couldn't
race. For the next week's event at Laguna Seca Hall married
parts from his car with the also disabled
#48 Birdcage owned by Stan Sugarman to create one healthy Birdcage.
Also interesting is the white Lotus Mk.18 behind the Birdcage -- is it a F-Jr? Or is it
Hall's F1 Lotus that he'll race in the USGP at Riverside a month later?
(11-29-14) From Author & Historian Willem Oosthoek:
"I sent one of the Riverside images to Jim Hall's mechanic Frank Lance. Here is his response."
"Thats
a good photo of Jim's 3 cars. Bill Wristin on the other side of 5.7.
Foy in red cap and Gary Knutsen by the 18 F-Jr nose." |
