Bill Dixon

raced his Maserati 300S #3077 with its original Maserati 6-cylinder engine in 1960.  For 1961, he figured Chevy V8 power would make his beautiful car more competitive.
 

At Pomona, July 8-9 1961 he appeared with the 351 cid V8.

Now with plenty of horsepower he ran with the leaders in the early laps, but didn't finish.

Dixon at Laguna Seca on October 21-22.  He qualified, but DNF'd early.
