Building Larry's "Desert House" -- 2

Larry & I worked on the house part-time, usually Spring and Fall, for three years. We didn't work when it was either too cold or too hot.

Proudly posing with my handiwork.  This was the first 12' high wall we'd completed.  Note bolts in upper left to hold crossbeam later.

By the time Larry & I finished this wall, we had pretty much figured out the techniques for building this project.  If we had it to do over we could do even better.

Larry had spent years collecting stones in the desert.  These stones were selected for color, size, and  having one flat "face" which would be visible in the wall.  Some needed two, or even three men to position properly.

This was easily the most satisfying project of my building career.  It was also the last.
