(8-4-09) From Chuck Fawcett:
"There was a TV personality in LA by the name of Bill Leyton (Leighton)
(Leyden TM) who raced an OSCA. I think this is him, but I'm
not sure."
(8-10-09) From Andy Dziedzic:
"#127 could be Chick Leson's OSCA
MT4, a 1350 cc version with s/n 1127. Normally he used his race number
#117 and you can see this numder is painted over as #127. Again a little
mystery concerning this event with of not matching race numbers."
(4-24-10) From M. Covindassamy
"The car on the Torrey Pines picture is indeed OSCA Chassis #1127,
owned by Chick Leson at the time. It is quite recognizable with the
scoops on the rear fenders for brake cooling. #1127 is the only known
OSCA with this distinctive feature (a 1954 addition). It also had
ventilation scoops on each side of the front grille, and the first row
of louvres on the hood inverted (pointing outward); those were 1953 additions,
when the car was nearly new, following a crash." |
