In the Novice Race, Papke won Class "E Production" in his Porsche Carrera.  In the class "B-C-D Production" final he finished 6th.  In this era, classification was based on engine displacement, so the super-potent 4-cam Porsche Carreras were pitted against standard pushrod 356 Porsches and the far less sophisticated MGAs.
