(11-12-12) From Lennart
Bergsten:
"The man in the green shirt is Eric Broadley
talking to drivers Richard Attwood (left) and David Hobbs."
(9-22-12) From Jim Walker:
"What I know about the car is this:
I was working for a VW/Porsche/BMW shop in Austin. We entered cars
in the SCCA races in Texas and I first saw this car in Fort Worth at a
Regional race...It was owned by John Mecom out of Houston...
It was Chevy powered and the most powerful
image of the engine compartment was that it had 4 huge Weber DCOE carbs...It
was quite lovely and looked a little like a space ship compared to the
other cars in the pits...{I was driving a really primitive Lotus Super
Seven}...
A while after that I found out that the
car had been totaled somewhere. Within the year it had been purchased by
David Dunham who owned the PitStop in Austin. David raced Cobras
and had three of them. One of them was a 427 that was an ex-Ken Miles
car that he bought from Shelby...
Dunhams intention was to restore the
car and race it instead of the Cobras....It sat in miserable stacks of
pieces in his shop for a long time and then it went somewhere else, but
I have no idea where." |
