Jim Hall -- Chaparral
2G-Chevrolet
Hall in practice. He qualified
2nd.
As race time neared, Hall moved the Chaparral
into its front-row grid position. But when Jim started the engine,
a backfire jammed the starter and the Chaparral's race was over before
it began. Too bad, because the car wore a set of the same F1 rain
tires that gave John Cannon his winning advantage.
