For Immediate Release:

San Diego’s historic San Diego County gold rush town of Julian will host its first annual “Julian Independence Celebration Classic Automobile Show” on July 3, 2004 at Julian’s Menghini Winery.  Select classic touring and vintage racing cars from the turn-of-the-century through the 1950s are being invited to the show.  Members of the Peterson Museum and the Historic Motor Sports Association are expected to take part, along with special vintage automobiles and motorcycles from San Diego County.

A highlight for participants will be the Saturday night “Great Gatsby Reception” at the Pine Hills Lodge. Participants and their guests will be encouraged to wear 1920's era dress, or white clothing, in the spirit of  “The Great Gatsby.” Southern California owners of vintage race or classic touring cars who would like to display their car on Satuday and drive in Sunday’s parade can get more information by contacting the Julian Classic Motoring Society at julianautoshow@netscape.net or call 760-765-2072.

The public is invited to view the cars and meet with the owners at the grounds of the Menghini Winery from 10 am to 5 pm on July 3rd, and also after the Julian Independence Day Parade on July 4th from 1-4 pm.  Spectators may wish to stay the night in one of Julian’s local hotels or bed-&-breakfast homes and watch the July 4th Parade through town on Sunday at noon.

Both events are free to spectators.  Proceeds will go to the "Julian Firefighters Fund" to aid the families of firemen who lost their own homes during last October's Southern California fires.
