Maligned in its time as a "Volkswagen", the mid-engined 914 became a respected racer in its six-cylinder incarnation.   Jon Wactor finished 24th in his photogenic purple example, Ms. Arrowsmith followed in 25th place in her traditional "Signal Orange" car.
