Ireland -- Lotus Mk. 19
English GP ace Ireland
had success with the "Team Rosebud" Lotus Mk.19 in the Under two liter
class. The Coventry-Climax powered 1963cc. car was lighter and more
powerful than its Porsche rivals. The car used the smaller engine
because its 2.5 liter mill blew up at the Portland, OR, "Rose Cup" pro
event on June 17, 1962.
Driver Pete
Lovely was top qualifier at Portland before the blowup, and had won
