Carroll Shelby -- Maserati 450S

A closer look at the 450S.  Is that the portly Temple Buell in the red shirt?  Is that a young Carroll Shelby looking into the car?   Was John Edgar involved with this car?  Was the engine bored out to 5.7 liters?

Also note:  In the background is #88, John Edgar's 4.9 liter Ferrari 410 Sport driven by Masten Gregory (Ferrari # 0598CM). Gregory qualified 15th and finished 11th (co-driven by Jo Bonnier?).

(11-12-11)   From Andy Dziedzic:

"I found Jo Bonnier in my "special" entry list handwritten as a co-driver with Masten Gregory for John Edgar's team. After 57 laps they finished 11th riding John's brute 410 Sport s/n 0598 CM.

But there is another mystery. Actually Jo should have started as #1 with an unknown 3.5 litre Ferrari sponsored by Joseph Massaglia, the owner of Manhattan's largest hotel, who also had some hotels in California (Santa Monica, San Jose and Long Beach). Is there anybody out there who knows which Ferrari this could be. Thanks for your help."

(2-16-14)   From Pete Johnson:

"That picture of the Carroll Shelby driven Maserati 450S in John MacCann's photos: did anyone else notice the Maserati badge on the grille is upside down?"
