Alex Budurin -- Kurtis-Buick
(?)
Budurin and his Kurtis in Turn 2.
He DNF'd in the race. The race
results show a connection with Bruce
Kessler. ??????
????? Another question arises:
this link shows Budurin's Kurtis
at Santa Barbara, but the car's painted blue. In Sunday's Ponoma
race Budurin is shown as the only Kurtis runner, but in Saturday's race
two others appeared and
both DNF'd. David McLenard (?) and Mickey Thompson are shown
as driving Cadillac-powered cars.
Is this yellow Kurtis actually one of
these others?
(2-28-12) From Historian
Ron Cummings:
"Every time that I saw the Alex Budurin
Kurtis it was yellow and sported those bat wing front fenders. I do not
know about the blue Kurtis.
Originally powered with a flathead Ford
product, Max Balchowsky re-engined the Kurtis with a nailhead Buick. Max
drove the car once at Paramount Ranch, with the Buick motor. It was later
entered at Palm Springs as the Balchowsky-Buick, as was the car that became
Old Yeller." |
