(10-18-08) From Paul House:
"I've just been having a look at your
latest pictures that Peter McKercher has contributed to the site.
Straight away I recognized Ken
Miles MG R1, but I haven't seen a picture of it in this colour.
I checked my folder of Ken Miles magazine articles and bingo, R & T
Feb 77 has a b/w picture of the car and driver similar to the McKercher
picture. The article says the driver is Dusty Miller. I think the slide
is back to front though as the car was right hand drive."
(10-24-08) From 2nd generation
racer Bill Oker:
"Ya know what…that guy behind the wheel
looks a lot like my Dad…?? (Bob
Oker) He drove for Dusty Miller many times in the 1957 to 58
time frame driving his Maserati 150S. The car was
red with number 8… I don't recall Dusty owning the Miles' MG
R-1 car but Dad often wore Hawaiian shirts like that and he used a visor
like the one in the picture since he wore glasses. And the general
seating position of the driver with his hands on the wheel and his head
angle looks like many pictures I have of Dad…and compare the helmets in
these two pictures...?? This would be kinda ironic since Dad and Miles
were not exactly best friends…!!"
(10-31-08) More from Paul House:
"Looking at the latest pictures on your
site the MG R1 painted red and the one in green
with #58 on the side both have the same driver because his helmet has
polka dots on it." |
