Bill Kerrigan -- MG TC / John von Neumann -- MG TC  Pebble Beach 1950

From Peter McKercher:  "I got this photo from Bill Kerrigan. He writes that it was the 1st Pebble Beach race in 1950, where he is racing John von Neumann. The note at the top refers to the 2nd race where he beat von Neumann after a fuel issue was contested.

In the Kerrigan/von Neumann photo at Pebble Beach, both cars were MG's. Kerrigan didn't race a Singer until 1951 at Reno Nevada, where he won the 1500 cc Stock Event over a field of twelve entries, beating 3 MG TC’s and 8 MG TD’s at the First Annual Reno Road Race."

(10-23-08)   From Michael Jacobsen:

"Alas, Bill  Kerrigan's memory fails on one point -- it was this occasion, the first Pebble, that Johnny was disqualified and Bill awarded the trophy.  Bill and I discussed this at the Peterson dinner two years ago.  If you look at Art Evans' "Pebble Beach Remembered", you'll find he lists John as the winner, but he reprints the account from the SCCA journal which makes no
mention of John even being there (but notes that my Dad in Paul Richert's MG Magnette retired from 3rd place with oil running out the exhaust!)."
