Salyer, of Oklahoma City, OK, completed 6 laps and was credited with 26th place in his 3000cc. car.  He finds himself in some fast company, as the battlers for 2nd place catch up to him as he dives into the corkscrew.

Race leader Bernard Juchli has already passed; 3rd place finisher John Buddenbaum in his 1949 Parkinson Special-Jaguar comes up alongside, while 2nd place finisher Terry Larson follows in his 1952 Jaguar C-Type.  Hidden behind Larson is 4th place finisher Robert Manson in the "Schaghticoke" Manning Special-Flathead Mercury; 5th place finisher  #51 James Lustman is next in another 1952 Jaguar C-Type.
