Jim Clark's Lotus 25-Climax

Racing immortal Jim Clark qualified this Lotus 1st, but DNF'd.  The race history is a little confusing:  Clark was a strong runner in this car for 44 laps, then stopped at the pits with fuel-injection problems.  After a long stop he continued in next-to-last place, but stopped again after 6 laps.

Team leader Colin Chapman called in teammate Mike Spence, then running 4th, and replaced him with Clark (Could you imagine that happening today?  TM) .  Spence continued in Clark's car, but DNF'd after only 5 more laps.

Clark (in Spence's car) moved up to 3rd, but retired after 102 laps with an empty gas tank.  He was awarded 7th place.
