The last of Max Balchowsky's Old Yeller racers debuted at the 1963 L.A. Times Grand Prix at Riverside with Bill Krause driving.  It had Ford 427 power.  During a practice session, I saw this big engine blow up in a cloud of smoke and steam as Krause approached Turn 7.

I don't think the car ran again with Ford power; IIRC Balchowsky returned to his proven Buick engines for later events.
