I don't know if Knoop bought the Echidna or was "sitting in" as driver.  Knoop's father Fred owned and raced significant (to say the least! sports/racers in the late 1950s-early 1960s:  The Huffaker Special-Chevy and the Ferrari 412 MI.  Bodin's Devin also has an interesting history.
