Hill rounds Turn 8 in his barely-raceworthy Ferrari.  Downhill straight in the backgound is a shortcut used by NASCAR racers.  This eliminated the hard braking needed at Turn 7.  Sonoma Raceway today uses a similar NASCAR shortcut that eliminates the "Carousel".
