Building Larry's "Desert House" -- 6

Removing the forms revealed the majesty of the spectacular master bedroom wall.  Organic to its desert surroundings, it was (almost) a shame we had to build a roof over it.

With the high wall of the master bedroom done, it was time to work back toward the main living area of the house.

The 2x8' forms were made by cutting 4x8' sheets of 1/2 inch plywood lengthwise, then nailing them to 2x4 frames. We could fill 16-24 running feet of wall on a good pour day.

We wired "Rebar", visible protruding from the form's endplate, to the upright steel about 4" up from the top of the previous pour.  Another bar can be seen protruding from the endplate near the top of the space to be filled.

Note the stones ready to be placed on the inner face of the wall.  These were selected for color & size.

A wider view of the finished master bedroom wall and the progress of the job, taken on the same day as the photo above.

The mixers are to the right of the picture.

The next pour will incorporate the stub wall that extends into the main living area of the house.

Because it's double-sided this wall will be a more challenging assignment to build.
