"23-year-old Bill Krause in his D-type Jaguar taken at the 6th running at Santa Barbara, September 1-2, 1956.  He captured Saturday's big-bore main with only a car length and less than a second ahead of Bill Murphy's Kurtis-Buick.  Krause chased Murphy for 21 laps in Sunday's main but went out when his Jaguar lost its oil pressure."
