George Constantine
-- Ferrari 250TR
East coast campaigner Constantine came
west for his second try at the "L.A. Times Grand Prix". For 1961
he replaced 1960's "Kelischev"
Lister-Chevy with V12 Testa Rossa #0746
which has an unusual
history.
He qualified 14th with a time of 2:07.7
-- a time equaled by Alan Connell in his
exotic Testa Rossa-powered longtail Birdcage Maserati, and by Bob
Harris in the Chevy-powered mid-engined Campbell Special, a car that
presaged the big V8 powered Can-Am cars.
Constantine was slowed by mechanical
problems during the race and finished 15th.
