Hawaii -- 1

Steve "Stever" Nelson and I got well-buzzed before we even flew to Hawaii.  As we entered the plane, Stever stuck his head in the cockpit and said to the flight crew:  "I hear a chimpanzee can fly one of these".  For some reason, they let us stay on the plane.

A cold beer on a hot day.  It looks like I'm enjoying the hell out of another long, leisurely, sun-drenched day in the tropics.

This photo was taken at Keauhou Beach on the Kona Koast.   I'd drink there with my Hawaiian friends and snorkel for hours in the lagoon.

I became so tan that Hawaiians frequently took me for a "local".

All that sun undoubtedly led to the two basal cell skin cancers I've had removed from my upper back since then.

Stever accompanied me on the early days of my Hawaiian sojourn.

We're at the lagoon behind Waimea Bay on the island of Oahu.

Stever was there for many of the great adventures in the old days.  I still think of him as one of my best friends, though I rarely see him now.

We first visited our old friends Kent Crawford and Rosemary van den Brink in Honolulu.

In this photo, Stever's with Kent & Rosemary at the Hanauma Bay underwater park on Oahu.  Great snorkeling here for beginners (like we were that day).

Rosemary, who's denim-clad inner thigh is visible on the right in the photo above, was an ex-girlfriend of mine.

Kent's a fellow carouser, world class hell- raiser, and Rolling Stones fan.
