Oliver Special

From Tom Styczynski:  "I am looking for the Oliver Special. It was built in the early 60's by Wally Oliver...

"... and raced in Midwestern Council Sports Car Club (MCSCC) events in the Chicago area.  Their site features old club photos and details of Homestead, a ghost track in the midwest.

I believe the Special was powered by a BMC A series engine with a crossflow head. Wally passed away in 1975. I recently talked to his widow who spoke fondly of Wally and the car. She sold the car soon after his death at a garage sale in River Forest, Illinois. She also believes it is still in the Chicago area. I would like to find the car as a next vintage project.

"In 1971 I was a young engineer, in Chicago, when I met Wally Oliver.  Wally told me about the car and even produced a feature article run in a local newspaper. I followed my career to California in 1974. I learned that Wally passed away in 1975. A friend turned me on a website for the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs, a group of independent clubs that have sanctioned club level racing for years. In a 1965 yearbook I found the attached photo of the Oliver Special. Since my Bugeye vintage racer is near completion I decided to look for the Oliver Special as a potential next project."
