Chris Insalaco's MG Special

An interesting looking little car...  Here's what Chris has to say about it.

"Thank you for hosting this wonderful site. The photos are unique and the text a delightful insight to racing and special building. I searched the branches of your site like a crazed squirrel but cannot find a picture of an MG TD special other than R1and R2 (shingle) built by Ken Miles. I know there were a few built at the time, some accounted for, but I've yet to find a picture of my little hacked up orphan. So I thought I'd send some pictures to you for your mystery car section..."

I've attached three pictures but have nine more and a few pages identifying the various years of parts in the car. I would guess it was produced and sold in 1951 and gained later TD and TF parts until it retired possibly as late as 1959-60 as it has a roll bar. I thank you for any info you could pro- vide as all I know is it was in a barn in Fresno,CA for 25-30 years with other British cars from the sixties and seventies. It is now five years with me and I'm itching to get started!"

This looks like it was once a very pretty little car.  It sort of reminds me of the "Solitary Wasp".  I wonder if there's a Whitey Theusen connection here?

Historian Ron Cummings found a photo of this car in the
April, 1956 issue of "Sports Cars Illustrated".  We
still don't know what it is!
