Miles stepped into Harry Finer's Maserati Type 61 "Birdcage" for the 1962 "L.A. Times Grand Prix".
 
 

Miles nursed the fragile car home to a very creditable 8th place finish.  Bill Krause won main events at Pomona, Santa Barbara (Sept 1-2), and Reno (Stead AFB)  in 1962 but the car was high-mileage by the time it got to Riverside.  It lasted only one lap a week later at Laguna Seca.
