The least successful of the Chaparrals.  Designer Jim Hall, seriously injured in his career-ending accident at the Stardust Raceway CanAm race in Nov. '68, couldn't develop this car by driving it himself as he had done with the other Chaparrals.  Hired gun Surtees was never comfortable in it.

This strange-looking car had visibility problems.  Note side windows.  Surtees insisted on having his seating position raised since he simply couldn't see out in the original config- uration..
