Rod Carveth in his glorious Ferrari Testa
Rossa #0666.
He drove the car for the last time here. This was the prototype
of the pontoon-fendered 1958 Testa Rossas.
The car ran in the 1958
LeMans 24 hour race where it was entered by Luigi
Chinetti and driven by the all-California team of Dan
Gurney and Bruce
Kessler. It DNF'd due to an accident.
On July 15, 1961 Carveth
and co-driver Chuck Parsons won the 3-hour enduro at the Cotati
airport course.
On Augusat 20, 1961 Lew Florence drove
the Ferrari to a 6th place finish at Vaca
Valley Raceway.
Carveth moved on to a
Buick
V8 powered Lotus Mk.19 later in 1962.
Jon
Shirley raced the Ferrari in historic events until he sold
the car in August 2011 for a record $16.4M.
