Phil Hill -- Manning Post's Ferrari Mondial

Hill worked his way up to 2nd in the Jan. 14, 1956 6-hour enduro and was catching the winning Jerry Austin/Sherwood Johnston D-Type Jaguar when a rod disintegrated and he DNF'd.

"Phil Hill is working hard in turn 5. This was the 6-hour enduro race on Saturday, Jan 14, 1956 and he was sharing the drive with Ritchie Ginther. He was actually catching the Austin D-Jag when he blew the engine. The car is still around and was at the Coronado race in 1998."

"Hill again, exiting turn 6, where now you'll find the number 16 tee of the Torrey's North Course."
