Phil Hill
-- Manning Post's Ferrari Mondial
Hill worked his way up
to 2nd in the Jan. 14, 1956 6-hour enduro and was catching the winning
Jerry Austin/Sherwood Johnston D-Type Jaguar when a rod disintegrated and
he DNF'd.
|
"Phil Hill is working
hard in turn 5. This was the 6-hour enduro race on Saturday, Jan 14, 1956
and he was sharing the drive with Ritchie Ginther. He was actually catching
the Austin D-Jag when he blew the engine. The car is still around and was
at the Coronado race in 1998." |
|
"Hill again, exiting
turn 6, where now you'll find the number 16 tee of the Torrey's North Course." |
