Wine Country Classic 2004 -- Group 1 -- PreWar Cars

Some of the most photogenic cars of all!  Your webmaster didn't have much time to photograph them due to pit duties, but here are a couple of shots.  I'll make up for it next year or at Monterey!

Longtime aficionado of PreWar Grand Prix Cars, Peter Giddings of Alamo, CA romped to an easy win with his 3000cc. 1935 Alfa Romeo 8C.

Historian David Seielstad on the Alfa:

"Gidding's Alfa (Tipo C) is an 8C35 serial 50013.  Ex-Scuderia Ferrari, then sold to Hans Ruesch and won the 1936 Donnington with Dick Seaman co-driving."

Giddings in the #31 Alfa Romeo laps slower contenders in the "esses" at Infineon Raceway, always to be remembered as "Sears Point" by race fans.
