Mark Donohue -- McLaren
M6B-Chevrolet (M6A3)
Donohue
in Penske's
McLaren finished 8th in the rainy Oct.
13, 1968 Can-Am event at Laguna Seca. This photo, and the three following,
must have been shot in practice as race day was WET, WET, WET.
Note pinstripes: When Donohue won
the USRRC event at Laguna Seca on May 5, 1968 the
car lacked pinstripes.
(2-9-12 From Jim Cordero:
"Your Can-Am posting of 2-4-12 in photo
4 shows Jerry Hansen in a blue M6A. His
car is Donohue's from the 5-5-68 and prior USRRC races.
See 2-5-12
posting photo 1 and note the unique fender strip design. Its M6A1 and
was Bruce's 67 series winning car. Don't know who got M6A2. Penske got
M6A3 and seriously improved it over M6A1 for use in the Can-Am.
What a purposeful,balanced,gorgeous machine.Both
of them. Current owner Carl Moore is very fortunate
to be experiencing the beauty and the brawn of this thing. And he's a nice
guy as well! |
Carl Moore owns this car and campaigns
it in historic racing today.
