Dan Gurney -- Lotus Mk.19 "Monte Carlo"

Gurney qualified 4th at 2:01.500, tied with McLaren.  At the start he suffered a bent shifting fork and had to pit at the end of Lap 1.  After repairs he returned to finish 9th. 

The next weekend, Gurney finished 2nd to Stirling Moss at the S.F. Examiner's Pacific Grand Prix at Laguna Seca.  They raced on even terms through both heats.
