Frank
Crane in Ferrari TRI/61 #0794
Frank Crane drove the
car to an 11th overall finish at the 1964 Laguna Seca USRRC race against
modern mid-engined competition. Bill
Sherwood took over driving duties for the rest of the 1964 season and
registered a string of 2nd place finishes in Northern California events
behind Bart Martin's Cooper-Chevy, who ran up a string of 1sts.
This beautiful streamlined
Ferrari Testa Rossa #0794 was an ex-factory racer. In 1961 Phil Hill
& Olivier Gendebein won LeMans in the car. Ricardo
Rodriguez drove it at the 1961 "L.A. Times Grand Prix" at Riverside
for Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team (N.A.R.T.). He failed
to qualify due to mechanical problems. Dick Hahn bought the car for
Stan
Burnett to drive in 1963. Bev Spencer bought it next for his
drivers Frank Crane and Bill Sherwood. |
