Start of the main event at Pomona on March 12, 1961.  Bob Drake is in #70, Old Yeller III; Don Hulette is in #204, the Corvette powered ex-Pickford Jaguar Special; #38 is Scooter Patrick in the Porsche-powered PAM Special.

Drake won the race, Patrick was 2nd, Chuck Sargent (not shown here) finished 3rd in his first outing in the ex-Bill Krause Maserati Type 61 "Birdcage", and Hulette (in the archaic-looking but very potent Jag Special) was 4th.
