Group 5 -- 1962-1967 Production
Sports Cars
As the 1960s picked up speed so did the
production race cars. Corvette raised the stakes by going to the
"327" engine in 1962 and added IRS in 1963's "Stingray". Jaguar introduced
the E-Type in 1961 and followed with the "Lightweight" version in 1963.
Then Carroll Shelby swept the boards from 1963-65 with his all-conquering
Ford-powered Cobras and GT-350 Mustangs. All in all, a fast,
loud, crowd-pleasing group of world-class cars!
