Peter Giddings of Alamo, CA, leads eventual race winner Mark Gillies into the corkscrew.  Giddings, the winner at the "Wine Country Classics" in June, led early but DNF'd. 

Historian David Seielstad on Giddings' Alfa: 

"Gidding's Alfa (Tipo C) is an 8C35 serial 50013.  Ex-Scuderia Ferrari, then sold to Hans Ruesch and won the 1936 Donnington with Dick Seaman co-driving."
