Dave Olson -- 1961 Holynski-Chevrolet

I'd seen Dave Olson's "Holynski" at Sears Point, and thought it an interesting example of automotive creativity.  In 1961, when it was built, most people in racing thought mid-engined placement and big V8 motors didn't work.  The tires of the day were cited as the reason.  Also, there was considerable "institutional memory" of the dangerously squirrelly mid-engined Auto Unions of the 1930s.

The "Holynski" pointed the way to the very successful F-5000 cars that came along only a few years after its creation.
