Brian Redman spins Jack Boxtrom's 1961 Chaparral I into the gravel trap at the top of the corkscrew.  This happened early in the Group 3B event for early 1960s modified cars.  Redman recovered to finish 4th in the race.

Peter Giddings of Alamo, CA, loses his 1955 Maserati 300S in Turn 5.  There may have been oil on the course during Friday morning's practice session as other cars had "twitchy moments" here.  A minute or two later another car spun --  see below.

Nick Colonna of Palos Verdes, CA, was the next to find trouble in the slippery Turn 5.  He spun the ex-Cunningham 1958 Lister-Jaguar into the gravel but quickly recovered and returned to the course.
